As a school working in partnership with many Ministry of Defence (MoD) links, Llantwit Comprehensive wanted to celebrate Armed Forces Day with our MoD students.

On June 19, some of the school’s MoD ambassadors put up an armed forces flag, which was flown at the front of the school for the entire week, to support Armed Forces Day.

To celebrate the event, through links with the RAF, Corporal Andrew Oldham and Corporal Ellie Williams came in and put on hourly activity sessions in the school gym for the MoD pupils in years 7, 8 and 9.

The activities are called Mobile Team Challenge (MTC) and are designed to practice, encourage and develop teamwork, leadership and communication (TLC).

Corporal Oldham said: “|It was great to see the pupils working together as a team to complete the tasks. We witnessed the ‘birth’ of some natural leaders and all the participants really engaged with the challenges resulting in some fantastic overall team achievements.”

The pupils’ feedback was positive. Students said they really enjoyed the activities and would love to do it again.

The school cannot thank the RAF enough for their continued support and are grateful to Corporal Andrew Oldham and Corporal Ellie Williams for bringing such engaging tasks to the students.
