Children and their families who took part in the Barnardo’s Big Toddle along Porthcawl seafront have raised a magnificent £1,300 for the charity.

Approximately 80 youngsters and their families put their best feet forward for the fun event, organised by mum of two Celyn Astrauskas, who said:?“It was a lovely day and great to see so many families enjoying the sunshine. We were joined by Teletubbies and we had a princess to present the medals.

“I organised a toddle for the first time last year and enjoyed it so much I wanted to do it again. Barnardo’s is such a good cause, working with vulnerable children, and it is good to be able to support them.

“It was particularly nice to meet Heather Deekes, who took part in the toddle 25 years ago, when she ran Auntie Heather’s nursery!”

Sarah Crawley, director of Barnardo’s Cymru, said: “We are delighted that Celyn has chosen to continue the long tradition of Big Toddles in Porthcawl as the event actually began in Porthcawl and has now become a UK-wide event.

“Fundraising helps us provide much needed support for very vulnerable children and families across Wales.”
