It is always a delight for the Porthcawl Stroke Club members when people give up their time and effort to support the group, making a social life more enjoyable after having a stroke.

Just before Christmas, the captain of the Porthcawl ladies’ Masonic Lodge bowls team, Carol Brown, and Wendy Williams presented a cheque for £300 to chairman Keith Duggan.

This is not the first time the ladies have supported us, their generosity is very much appreciated, and all money goes for the members so that they can lead happier, healthy lifestyles, which is a very important factor in the recovery process.

On the same day, we had an absolutely amazing presentation by Ceri Joseph, one of the team who saved our Porthcawl Museum through hard work and effort, through sheer infectious enthusiasm; encouraging volunteers to get involved in such an important project.

Not only has she recreated the love of historical events which relate to the area, but the way she teaches the subject matter is outstanding!

I feel sure schools would benefit from such a provision.

Our thoughts go out to our members who are in poor health at the moment, we are sending special wishes to you all.

A big thank you to all our supporters, to Mr and Mrs Duggan and the volunteering team. Where would our communities be without volunteers?

Anyone wishing to join the Porthcawl Stroke Club, please contact Keith and Mary Duggan on 01656 773376, transport is provided for the less able.
