The results for recent events at Bridgend Bridge Club are as follows:

Wednesday, January 10, British Winter Simultaneous Pairs: first, Julian Pottage and Tony Ratcliff; second, Norma and David Newman; third, Glyn Williams and Irene Wickham.

The winners on handicap were Norma and David Newman.

Thursday, January 11: first, Maggie and Richard Ashpole; second, Sally Bryant and Paul Lyne; third, Eileen Mahoney and John Henson.

The winners on handicap were Sally Bryant and Paul Lyne.

Friday, January 12 New Year’s Party: North South, first, Steve and Carole Burgoyne: second, Emer Disley and Jane Brook: third, Marjorie Morris and Linda Pinnock; East West, first, Debbie and Simon Richards; second, Glenda Roberts and Liam Sheridan; third, Dave and Debbie Lea.

The winners on handicap were: North South, Steve and Carole Burgoyne; East West, Glenda Roberts and Liam Sheridan.

Regular club nights take place on Wednesday and Friday evenings at Nolton Church Hall.

Play is scheduled to start at 7pm, to enable a prompt start it helps if players arrive at least 10 minutes early.

On Thursday afternoons at 2pm, again at the church hall, there is a gentle bridge session when help is available with the bidding. All sessions are played in a friendly manner, visitors and new members are always welcome.

Lessons for beginners are being run by Steve Burgoyne, whose number is below, contact Steve for further details.

On Thursdays there is a session run by Steve starting at 1pm on slightly advanced topics; this week it is continuation of the theme of what happens after partner opens one NT.
