Plans for a huge windfarm – viewable from the South Wales coast – have been scaled back, the company behind the project says.

The Atlantic Array Wind Farm in the Bristol Channel will have a maximum of 278 turbines – reduced from 417, and the closest distance to the shore is increased from 16km to 22.5km.

After taking full consideration of environmental and engineering factors, and in response to the feedback from the public, we have revised the proposed offshore wind farm boundary and made alterations to the maximum number of turbines.

The company is holding a second consultation on its proposals, with exhibitions between Pembroke Dock and Porthcawl between 27 July and 1 August.
