Business lands funds windfall

A WELSH fresh fish merchant which supplies the Jamie Oliver Group, Harrods and Fortnum and Mason from day boat fleets in Burry Port and Penclawdd has benefited from a cash boost from the Welsh Government.

The £750,000 equity and debt investment is in Channel Fisheries, described by the Welsh Government as “one of the UK’s leading wholesalers of quality fish and seafood.” The company plans to double the size of its commercial operations over the next three to five years.

Channel Fisheries also has operations at Ponthenri.

Business Minister Edwina Hart said: “Access to finance is essential for business growth and job creation and I welcome this investment by the Wales SME Investment Fund.”
