Crash closed A48 in Bridgend for five hours

A busy road was closed after a crash between a motorbike and a car.

A motorcyclist had to be “released” by fire crews following the crash on the A48 in Bridgend amd was left with “life-changing” injuries, a police spokesman said.

Two fire crews were sent to the Laleston roundabout to deal with the incident, which happened just after 11.30am on Wednesday, April 17.

Welsh Ambulance crews also attended the scene and treated the motorcyclist, who was taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash between a grey Kia car and a Yamaha MT-07 motorbike.

“Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dash cam footage of either vehicle prior to the collision,” a force spokesman said.

“Anyone with information is asked to call us on 101 and quote reference 1900136853.”

The A48 road was closed eastbound for around five hours to allow emergency services to work. Traffic quickly began queuing between the A4106 Bridgend Road (Redhill Roundabout) and A473 High Street (Laleston Roundabout) and local bus services were affected.

The road was reopened at around 3.45pm.
