The Dinas Powys open gardens event held last weekend for the charity the National Garden Scheme (NGS) was a ‘great success’, according to a spokesperson.

There were more than 400 visitors to the six lovely gardens and gallons of tea, tons of cake and a whole jungle’s worth of plants were sold.

The visitors gave lots of positive feedback and the group of green spaces was thoroughly enjoyed.

In total, some £4,000 was raised, and 80 per cent of this will be donated to the NGS, which gives millions of pounds each year to charities such as Marie Curie and Macmillan Nursing.

Of the total sum raised, 20 per cent will go to Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern, which provides support to the elderly in the village.

Thanks to all of the lovely, enthusiastic visitors and the generous local businesses who donated raffle prizes.

Well done to the dedicated garden owners who generously opened up their private gardens.

We will see you all next year.!
