The Emmaus South Wales charity shop on New Road in Porthcawl celebrated its sixth birthday on St David’s Day.

To mark being part of the Porthcawl community since 2013, the shop was adorned with bunting, balloons and, of course, a Welsh flag. There were also refreshments and cakes available for customers to enjoy.

Michelle, deputy shop manager, said: “March 1 is a special day at Emmaus Porthcawl, as it’s our birthday! This year, alongside new and regular customers, volunteers and companions, we celebrated being open for six years. We are very grateful to our volunteers, who have also become our friends. Thank you to all our customers and local community for their continued support.”

The Emmaus South Wales shop in Porthcawl sells a range of new and secondhand items, with everything from golf clubs and clothes to beds for sale at the shop.

Emmaus South Wales would like to thank The Co-op in Porthcawl for their donation of cakes for the occasion and the Porthcawl community for their support over the past six years.

If you would like to support Emmaus, you can donate your quality unwanted items to any of their seven shops, or for larger items, arrange a free collection.

Emmaus South Wales is a homelessness charity based in Bridgend that offers a home and meaningful work opportunities for people facing homelessness. Their seven shops throughout south Wales not only provide the funds to support their community home in Cefn Glas, but also provide valuable work opportunities for companions (as the formerly homeless individuals the charity supports are known).
