Llancarfan’s Evan Williams had plenty to smile about after landing a 164-1 double at Chepstow on Saturday.

After winning the £12,996 Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers To Follow Handicap Hurdle with 10-1 chance Silver Streak he took the next race on the card, the big race of the day, the £28,475 Totepool Silver Trophy Handicap Hurdle with Court Minstrel, winner of the race two years ago, and owned by the Vale’s Janet Davies.

Silver Streak won by four-and-a-half lengths from the favourite Dolus and Court Minstrel, at 10 the oldest horse in the race, got home by half-a-length from Sam Spinner.

Both winners were given brilliant rides by Mitchell Bastyan who is proving an excellent replacement for stable jockey Paul Moloney who hung-up his riding boots earlier this year.
