Father and son saved

A FATHER and son were rescued from a boat when it began taking on water.

RNLI lifeboats from Mumbles and Porthcawl headed for Scarweather sands when they were alerted it was in difficulty.

The son was rescued and taken on board the Porthcawl lifeboat while the father remained on board to offer assistance in pumping out the water.

Rescue helicopter 169 from RAF Chivenor also arrived with equipment to help with the operation.

Nigel Garner, second coxswain of the Mumbles RNLI all-weather lifeboat said: “Luckily Porthcawl RNLI lifeboat managed to get a pump on board in time to stem the ingress of water.”
