‘He’s the biggest Rottweiler I have ever seen’: Residents urged to report …

The RSPCA has urged anyone spotting a “potentially dangerous” dog believed to be on the loose in Porthcawl to report their sightings to the council’s dog wardens.

Bridgend Council has warned locals not to approach the dog, which is thought to have been abandoned near the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club on Thursday .

A spokeswoman for the RSPCA said: “It sounds like a terrible incident and we hope the poor dog is found soon.”

She added: “It is a sad reality that many animals are treated literally like rubbish and just thrown away when their owners cannot, or do not, want to care for them any longer.

“At present, we would urge anyone who sees the dog to contact the dog warden as a matter of urgency.”

Calls

The animal welfare charity confirmed that it had received two calls about the dog, which is thought to be a Rottweiler.

There is speculation that the animal may have been used for fighting, as it had wounds to its ear and lip.

On Friday, the council’s dog wardens searched the Rest Bay area for the dog and it was later spotted at Kenfig Pool in Kenfig National Nature Reserve.
