Porthcawl Lions held their annual charity golf day at The Grove Golf Club as usual on Friday, June 1.

The weather threatened thunder and lightning but the main problem at the beginning was fog, which cleared in time for the first teams to get on the course.

After a recount, the winning men’s team was announced as South Wales Police No 2. The second team was The Greys and in third place came the South Wales Police No 1 team.

The ladies’ event was won once again by the Christine Eynon Charity.

Porthcawl Lions presented cheques totalling £2,400 divided between Porthcawl Museum, Porthcawl Stroke Club, The Sandville Self Help Centre and Prostate Cymru.

Porthcawl Lions Club wish to thank all the teams for supporting the event and also those organisations, business and individuals who sponsored the tees.

That was Friday; and on the Sunday, the Porthcawl Lions once again held their car boot sale at Porthcawl Rugby ground and, weather permitting, they will be there every Sunday from 8am to 1pm throughout the summer months. Further details from Jim at 01656 859505.
