Porthcawl Male Choir were honoured to be asked to perform at Porthcawl Comprehensive annual eisteddfod in the Grand Pavilion.

It was a wonderful occasion and one which members of the choir thoroughly enjoyed.

They began with a favourite Welsh hymn ‘Rachie’ (better known as ‘I bob un sydd ffyddlon’). This first hymn received rapturous applause from the students from years 10,11 and 12.

The choir followed this with two popular songs from Les Miserables: ‘Bring Him Home’ and ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ and then a more modern song from Adele’s 19 Album, ‘Make me Feel Your Love’.

The final song, suited to the occasion, was a choir favourite ‘O GYMRU’. This again received wonderful support from the students and staff.

This was the first occasion that the choir had performed at a school event and both parties trust it will be the beginning of a long and lasting friendship.

The choir now have a very busy period, with forthcoming concerts:

Saturday, April 22 – SS Samtampa 70th memorial service at All Saints’ Church, Porthcawl at 3pm.

Saturday, May 13 – a joint concert with Whitland Male Choir at All Saints’ Church, Porthcawl at 7pm (tickets from Porthcawl Choir members or 07773 622537).

May 19–22, trip to Torquay and joint event with Tamar Valley Choir.

The choir will also be singing at a number of weddings over the spring and summer months.
