Man arrested after 19-year-old ‘stabbed’ in Porthcawl

A 19-year-old man is in hospital after he was allegedly stabbed in Porthcawl.

The incident happened on Thursday, September 13 near Porthcawl library on Church Place.

The emergency services said they were called at around 10.20pm to reports of a stabbing and a man was taken to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend where he is recovering from his injuries.

South Wales Police said the man’s injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in police custody.

A section of Church Place remains cordoned off while police carry out their enquiries.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident on Church Place, Porthcawl.

“We were called shortly after 10.20pm on Thursday. The Welsh Ambulance Service also attended.

“The 19-year-old who was arrested is currently in police custody.”

A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called at approximately 10.20pm on Thursday to reports that a male had been stabbed in Porthcawl.

“We sent one emergency ambulance and transported one patient to Princess of Wales Hospital.”

Police are now appealing for witnesses who were there at the time to call them on 101 quoting reference 1800350143 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
