Members embark on epic trek

RAIN won’t be a problem for a group of charity fundraisers when they set out on an epic challenge.

As trainee crew members with Port Talbot lifeboat station they are used to getting wet.

They are raising funds for the RNLI by walking from the town’s lifeboat station to the charity’s station in Porthcawl tomorrow.

That’s a distance of around 30 miles, which they are hoping to cover in 15 hours.

James Egan, James Boyle and George Curtis are doing the walk, with support from crew member Leighton Vaughan and Kyle James, who is attached to the station as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Port Talbot RNLI spokesman Mel Cooper said: “They will be stopping off at various locations along the way and hoping to get as much support as possible.

“The RNLI relies entirely on public donations.”
