Police searching for man who hit woman in West End Avenue, Porthcawl

A WOMAN was attacked by a man who stopped her to ask for directions in Porthcawl.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which happened in West End Avenue at around 9.10pm on Friday.

The 23-year-old woman was approached by a man in his late 20s who wanted directions.

After getting into a conversation with her, the man grabbed her clothes and struck her across the face.

The woman broke free, got into her car and drove away. Police say the man was seen making off towards West Park Drive.

He is described as being white, in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5ft 7in and of average build.

He had slight stubble on his chin and was wearing dark blue jeans, a grey hooded top with the hood up and with a single pocket that went right through in front. He spoke with what is described as a deep Barry accent.

Detective Constable Michael Maund of Bridgend CID said: “This was a very upsetting experience for the victim and we want to hear from anyone who may be able to assist us in our investigations.

“We also want to hear from anyone else who may have been involved in a similar incident and who may not have reported the incident to the police.”
