The club recently participated in the WBU Simultaneous Pairs, in which the same deals are played on the same night throughout a number of clubs in Wales.

These are then scored centrally, and despite Emer and Betty winning the local event, they were overtaken by David and Alwyn who came third on the national ranking.

The club held its annual club championship for the Sid Gibbins Salver – congratulations to the winners Terry Dolan and Roger Plant who won on the last board.

Latest results from the club are:

Saturday, September 5:?First – Eleanor Jones & Winnie Phillips; second – Connie Dick & Roger Draper. Monday, September 7: First (equal) – Peter & Sandie Jenkins; Pat Haworth & Sue Anthony. Thursday, September 10: WBU Simultaneous Pairs, First – Emer Disley & Betty Longley; handicap (third nationally) David Rance & Alwyn Hill.

Saturday, September 12: First – Maurice Harris & Audrey Tinkler; second – Roger Plant & Betty Longley.

Thursday, September 17, Sid Gibbins Salver: First – Roger Plant & Terry Dolan; handicap – Beth Davies & Winnie Phillips.

Following on from the successful series of presentations given in the spring, a series of monthly talks is planned for the autumn/winter.

The September talk was a summary of the concepts previously presented; the first of the new topics – ‘Roman Keycard Blackwood’ will be given on October 15 at 6.10pm.

The club meets three times a week – Saturday and Thursday at the Awel-y-Mor centre, and Monday at the Glamorgan Holiday Hotel 7pm-10.15pm, visitors welcome at any time.
