PORTHCAWL Bridge Club continued its monthly seminars, with a talk on ‘unassuming cue bids’ – not as complicated as it sounds.

The aim of these talks is to provide that little extra modern technique, even for players who have been playing for many years.

The next talk will be on January 14, (topic – ‘wide range one no-trump responses’) and the club extends an invitation to neighbouring clubs to attend and play afterwards.

Recent club results: Saturday, November 14: First – Trish Saunders and Roger Draper; second – Maurice and Margaret Harris.

Thursday, November 19: First – Pat Roper and Tony Haworth; handicap – Sue Anthony and Peter Bennett.

Saturday, November 21: First – Julian Pottage and Tony Disley; second – Emer Disley and Tony Haworth.

Thursday, November 27: First – Pat Haworth and Gary Williams; handicap – Dian Jones and Kath Grossey.

The club meets twice a week, Saturday and Thursday at the Awel-y-Mor centre, 7pm-10.15pm. Visitors are welcome at any time. To contact the club, call secretary Trish on 01656 785794.
