Porthcawl crash victim named as 22-year-old local woman

Police have named a woman who died in a collision in Porthcawl at the weekend as 22-year-old Eve Lewis.

The 22-year-old, who is from the town, was in collision with a white Ford Tourneo custom minibus as she walked along the A4106 Porthcawl between John Street and Newton Nottage Road roundabouts, at approximately 1.54am in the early hours of Sunday morning.

In a statement Eve’s family said: “We as a family are devastated by what has happened. We wish to be left alone to grieve in privacy but are grateful for all the support we are receiving.”

South Wales Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the collision and is appealing for anyone who witnessed it, or the manner in which the minibus was being driven beforehand, to come forward.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone who saw, or was with, the victim in the hours before the incident.
