Porthcawl Mayor’s year of fundraising helps out local groups

Cllr Lorrie Desmond Williams, the outgoing Mayor of Porthcawl Town Council, recently presented cheques to her chosen charities for the year 2017/18 at Porthcawl YMCA.

With the help of her charity committee, an impressive £10,000 was raised during her term in office.

Cllr Desmond Williams selected three main recipients who each received £3,000. These were Porthcawl Museum and Historical Society, National Coastwatch Institution Porthcawl and Porthcawl Sea Cadets.

A further five local charities were presented with cheques to the value of £200 each. These were 1st Nottage Scouts, Porthcawl Brownies (Trinity Church), Tools for Self Reliance Porthcawl, Porthcawl YMCA and Porthcawl Kidney Research Unit for Wales Foundation (KRUF).
