For Pontypool-born artist Vernon W Jones, this year’s schedule of seascape painting is full of exhibitions, spanning over five different countries.

Since the beginning of this year, Jones has been preparing for his joint show with his wife Lidija in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, which took place earlier this year, and was a great success.

“People loved the contrasting styles of Lidija’s beautiful and colourful ‘houses’ to my more ‘serious’ seascape work. Word was going around about our show, which was fantastic!”

Preparations began for his solo show in Porthcawl’s Grand Pavilion which ends on June 26, entitled, ‘The sea from Southerndown to Porthcawl’, which entirely focuses on the area.

His work can also be seen exhibiting with the Coastal Artists Group until June 28 in Picton Castle, Pembrokeshire, which involves a group of four, including Vernon and his wife Lidija Pachemska Jones and another married couple and close friends, Chris and Claire Newell.

“I have just produced a talk in the Grand Pavilion which I thoroughly enjoyed, and will be doing two painting demonstrations this month, one on June 17, along with Chris Newell at our Coastal Artists Group exhibition event and also in Castle Gallery in Inverness on July 1.”
