Porthcawl Townswomen’s Guild enjoyed a lunchtime drama at the Pavilion and its monthly lunch at Isabella’s recently.

The committee has been making plans for the year ahead and already have a date for its autumn fair; further information to follow.

At the meeting, members were privileged to welcome Simon Richardson, son of chairman Dee, as a speaker.

He gave a presentation of his career as a paralympian cycling medallist and his plans for the future.

His current priority is a charity cycle ride from Paris to Swansea in August, in aid of the Welsh Air Ambulance.

Knowing the many problems he has overcome to be able to ride again, the Guild is sponsoring him for this event. Anyone wishing to sponsor Simon can visit ‘Just Giving’ Simon Richardson Paris to Swansea or call at Stains The Paper People, opposite Porthcawl Library.

The next meeting is on May 10 at 2pm in All Saints Church Hall, when Debra John makes a return visit with more ‘Welsh Tales’.
