A?‘secret’ society will be opening its doors to residents in Porthcawl – as the Freemasons try to tackle any myths and misapprehensions that people may have about it.

In light of the interest generated by the recent Sky 1 Documentary, Inside the Freemasons, and as part of the celebrations of 300 years of Freemasonry, Porthcawl Freemasons will be opening their Masonic Hall for viewing.

A spokesman said:?“We are extending a warm welcome to all to come and meet us. The open days are free, along with refreshments, and open to all members of the public who are interested in finding out more about Freemasons, what they stand for and what they do in your local community.

“We want to give the public an opportunity find out what the Freemasons’ really do, as opposed to the myths. If you would like to call in, have a look around, or listen to a short talk please just pop in anytime between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, September 9, or the following week, Saturday, September 16.

“Talks on Freemasonry in general will take place at 11.30am, 1pm; 2.30pm and 3.30pm, followed by a question and answer session.

“We are situated in New Road, Porthcawl, CF36 5DG under the archway next to and at the rear of ‘Happy Tails’ Dog Grooming Parlour.”
