SW Senior League: Grange Albion’s Division One title hopes hit by Porthcawl …

In the first full league fixture list completed in 2015, Grange Albion’s Division One title hopes received a setback as they went down 1-0 at home to Porthcawl Town Athletic, with Ben Davies scoring the winner.

Third-placed Pontlottyn gained a 5-2 win away at Cwmbach Royal Stars, with Lee Titcombe, Mark Powell, Matt Rowlands, Nikki Colbourne and Shaun Dark scoring. Nicky Phillips and Garvin Durston replied.

Bottom-of-the-table Max United went down at home 9-0 to Cornelly United. Dale Smith, Sammy Jones, Dan Jones and Klein Jones all scored twice with Jon O’Sullivan adding the other.

Fochriw went down 7-0 against Brecon Corries as Kyle O’Shea led the way with another four goals, with Richard Boosey, Paul Keddle and sub Damien Daniels completing the scoring.

Sporting Marvels edged out visitors AFC Butetown 2-1, thanks to Luke Jones’ winner.

In Division Two, the three leading sides all recorded victories.

Leaders Cadoxton Barry edged out Garw SBGC 2-1 with a double from Dean Adams. Brett Hughes was on target for Garw.

Second-placed St Albans defeated Tongwynlais 6-2. Kelvin North (2), Osian Actie (2), Matthew North and Derwyn Lewis were on target, with Luke Trecise and Dan Thomas replying.

AFC Whitchurch gained a 5-1 win away at St Josephs, while Cogan Coronation suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat at lowly Penrhiwfer, who scored through Justin Carr (penalty) and Gareth Moyle.

Penrhiwceiber Cons Ath and Llanrumney United shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Llanrumney led at the interval through a Samuel Wilson goal, with Luke Williams equalising in the second half.

Bottom side Stanleytown are desperately in need of points after suffering another home defeat, going down 3-0 against Cefn Cribwr BC, while Ynyshir Albions gained a 3-0 win against Margam Youth Centre.
