Thomas Cook accused over new hotel horror

TOUR operator Thomas Cook, which was widely condemned last week over the
deaths of two children in a hotel in Corfu, is facing renewed criticism
after a guest suffered a severe electric shock at a hotel in Cuba.

Kristine Williams, 61, a teacher from Porthcawl, south Wales, put her hand
behind a bedside table to pick up a hair brush while staying at the Brisas
Guardalavaca hotel near Holguin, in October last year.

“I was temporarily stunned after touching the wire,” she said. “I hit my head
as I was flung across the room. After a few minutes I came round and went to
fetch my brother who was at the pool. When we inspected the wiring in the
rooms we couldn’t believe our eyes.”
