The funeral of former Visage lead singer Steve Strange will be held in Porthcawl next month.

Friend Jayce Lewis said the service will take place at All Saints Church in the town on 12 March.

Boy George and Spandau Ballet members Gary and Martin Kemp are among the pop stars who have confirmed they will attend.

Strange, born Steven Harrington in Newbridge, Caerphilly county, died last month aged 55.

Mr Lewis said the funeral will be open to the public and there will be a speaker system outside the church to relay the service to those who cannot get inside.

Following the funeral, a wake will be held at the Hi-Tide Inn where some members of Visage are expected to play.

“Steve’s family want the funeral to be a big, bold celebration of what Steve has done and who he was,” said Mr Lewis.

“There’s no better way to deal with such a tragic loss than to turn it into a celebration of his life.”
