Caldicot photographer lands top picture prizes

A PHOTOGRAPHER from Caldicot was awarded two wins and runner up in the recent Master Photographers Association Welsh Region Annual Print Awards.

Tracey Clements has been a photographer for 25 years in the family run business, Wye Valley Studios, along with her brother Nick House, who also has enjoyed competition success in the past.

The business was set up by Mrs Clements’ father, Glyn House, age 87 and still works at the studio, and his brother Eric House.

At the recent MPA annual print awards held at The Grove Golf Club, Porthcawl, Mrs Clements won the Under Fives Portrait category with a photo of one year old Bobby Veale and the Portraits, Pets and
Livestock category with a photo of Finnian Baker and his pet bulldog Winstone.

She also had second place with a photo of Charlie, a black Scottie Dog.

The competition was judged by London photographer and qualified judge Kevin Pengelly.

Previously, Mrs Clements has won the Welsh awards before on several occasions and the National UK awards twice.

These prints will now go through to the Nationals, which will be held in October.

Mrs Clements said: “It’s very exciting to make it through to the Nationals as there were a lot of entries. It’s a waiting game for October now.”
