Phil Walters, a longstanding member of Porthcawl Male Choir for 27 years, received an associate member award at the choir’s annual Christmas service at Arlington Road Church.

During the evening, the choir performed their Christmas programme to a packed hall of family and friends.

The Christmas service was the culmination of a very enjoyable, festive programme where the choir entertained the residents of the Prince Albert residential home in Porthcawl, and also gave a concert to members and friends of the local stroke association at the Grove Golf Club.

This was a memorable evening, once again with the evening culminating in John Jones, resplendent in his Zulu tribal outfit, leading the choir in ‘African Trilogy’.

The final concert of the Christmas period was the annual RNLI concert at All Saints’ Church. Once again, a packed church listened to readings from the Christmas story and songs from West Park Primary School choir and Porthcawl Male Choir.

The choir are now looking forward to a busy 2017 schedule which includes a concert at Porthcawl All Saints’ Church for the Urdd Eisteddfod, which takes place this year in the Bridgend Borough; a joint concert with Whitland Male Choir in May, a tour and concert to Torquay at the end of May and of course the annual concert on September 30 with this year’s guest artist Mr Mike Doyle. It promises to be a fun filled year for all concerned.
