County earn final spot in Dorset win

A STRONG Gloucestershire Seniors team have qualified for the Southern Counties final in October.

The county won a foursomes competition by 1½ points from Dorset to book their place at Sherborne. Each pair contributed at least one point towards the win.

■ Laurie Potter of Minchinhampton has been named in the Gloucestershire team to face Glamorgan at Royal Porthcawl on Sunday.

Gloucestershire (v Glamorgan): Nick Day (Henbury), Paul Garland (Lansdown), Andy Hale (Chipping Sodbury), Tyler Hogarty (Rodway Hill), Charlie McLean (Brickhampton Court), Sam Morgan (Knowle), Jake Phillips (Brickhampton Court), Laurie Potter (Minchinhampton), Andy Rudge (Bristol and Clifton), Tom Workman (Stinchcombe Hill).

■ Tom Workman of Stinchcombe Hill has opened up a sizeable lead in the Duchess Salver Order of Merit.

He has moved to 165 points – 43 ahead of second-placed Tyler Hogarty of Rodway Hill – after the fourth round at Knowle.
