Dolphins have been sighted off the coast of Porthcawl

Imagine seeing dozens of dolphins surrounding your boat as you speed through the water on a beautiful day.

You’d be forgiven for thinking you were somewhere exotic, Florida or the Caribbean perhaps, but last Sunday four lucky people managed to spot the creatures off the coast of Porthcawl .

Stunning weather probably helped the seafarers spot the elusive mammals.

Hayley Grant on her boat

Hayley Grant, from Pyle, Bridgend, was one of the lucky few on the boat and said: “We’ve had a boat for 20 years and I’ve never seen anything like that before.”

Mrs Grant, 54, who runs Georgie’s Diner in Pyle, was out with her husband as well as her sister and brother-in-law, who were visiting from England.

She added: “My sister was down from London and couldn’t believe it, we were absolutely delighted.

“I was so busy watching, my husband Phil had to film and drive the boat. It was unbelievable.”

Dolphins were seen near Nash point in Porthcawl

Other people were also fortunate enough to see the dolphins near to Nash point.

Steve Rosser wrote on a blog post called Whales in Wales: “After 60 years of messing about on the coast at Porthcawl they are my first dolphins.”

Mrs Grant posted the video her husband shot on the group Porthcawl First.

She said: “I don’t usually post anything on Facebook, but I had to share the amazing moment with everyone.”
