Hunt for dangerous rottweiler dog abandoned in Porthcawl

RESIDENTS and schools have been warned of a potentially dangerous dog which has been abandoned in Porthcawl.

Dog wardens from Bridgend County Council are searching the Rest Bay area for the dog, which is believed to be of the rottweiler type.

Anyone who sees the dog is urged to contact the police or the council and not to approach it.

The police said Porthcawl PCSO teams had been notified.

The dog was spotted being abandoned near the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club on Thursday, according to Porthcawl First community Facebook page.

It was said to have many wounds “including a missing ear and lip” so may have been used in fighting.

“The council has been made aware this morning of reports of a potentially dangerous dog that may have been abandoned in the Rest Bay area of Porthcawl,” said a Bridgend Council spokesman.

“The authorities are currently looking for the animal, which is believed to be a rottweiler.

“If spotted, people are being advised not to approach the dog, but to report it to Bridgend County Borough Council on 01656 643643 or South Wales Police on 101.”
