Martyn Willimas ready to lead annual coastal walk for Velindre

Hundreds of people will join former rugby flanker Martyn Williams in a seven mile coastal walk to raise money for Velindre Cancer Centre this Sunday.

The walk will start at 10am from the Hi Tide Inn in Porthcawl and will take participants through the Fair, past the lighthouse and along the coast up to Locks Common and across Rest Bay.

The annual event has raised more than £50,000 for the centre and this year will mark the sixth year for Williams, who is a Patron of Velindre, to lead the walk.

‘Well supported’

He said: “The Walks have been really well supported over the years and are a great day out – I’m particularly looking forward to this one as it hugs the coastline for most of the route.

“Our Velindre Victory over Cancer campaign has been really well supported and hopefully this Walk will help to raise funds so that Velindre can continue to provide the best possible support to every patient, their families and carers dealing with cancer.”
