Penybont Community Centre

A CARMARTHEN community centre has been collecting Cash for your Community vouchers to carry out ongoing refurbishments.

Penybont Community Centre has been using its vouchers to pay for decorating and general maintenance costs at the old school building.

The centre was given to the community in 1972, when the old school site closed.

Janice Williams, treasurer of the community centre, said: “We applied to help with the running costs and the general maintenance of the centre, which costs about £2,000 a year.

“With the money we are hoping to replace the storage area, which young farmers use.”

Ms Williams said they were asking everyone to give their vouchers to the centre.

“We have asked if everybody in the community and in the village and anyone else who gets the Journal, who isn’t tied down to another cause to give us their vouchers.

“The centre is there for the whole community,” she said.
