Police appeal over mass brawl in Porthcawl

POLICE investigating a fight outside a Porthcawl bar that left a woman unconscious on the floor have released a CCTV image of the incident.

Officers say a group of around eight men were involved in “an argument that got out of control” near The Bay bar on the Esplanade, and they are appealing for anybody with information about what happened to come forward.

A 53 year old woman from Porthcawl was injured in the fight and taken to Princess of Wales Hospital for treatment.

South Wales Police PC Gillon Neal said: “When officers arrived they found the lady unconscious on the ground. Initial enquiries have established that shortly before there had been an altercation outside The Bay bar between a group of men.

“This argument resulted in the victim being hit and falling to the ground. The lady received an injury to her head during, what appears to have been, an argument that got out of control. We have already made two arrests in connection to the incident and we have a number of lines of enquiry to follow up.”

“We are confident there will be people with detail from that night that could help us, so if you witnessed the fight please contact us with any information”.

The brawl happened around 1.30am on Saturday, January 31.

Two men – aged 53 and 20 – are on police bail pending further enquiries.
